Imam Soharwardy will Give Friday Sermon in Edmonton
Domestic Violence is a Cancer and Must be Stopped
(Calgary) The founder of Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) and Muslims Against Terrorism (MAT), Imam Syed Soharwardy will be leading the Friday prayer at the Lakewood Community Centre, 260 Lakewood Road East NW, Edmonton on November 11, 2011 at 12:45 PM. His Friday sermon will be on Domestic Violence.
In a statement today Imam Soharwardy said, “Domestic violence is a cancer and must be stopped. In Islam, violence against family members or any creation of Allah is Haraam (forbidden)”.
In the holy Qur’an Allah says that there is no compulsion in Islam. What Islam requires from its followers is to educate people about the teachings of Islam but no one has the right to force a family member or any other person to follow any thing against his/her will.
Domestic violence is not a Muslim issue. It is a human issue. Millions of non-Muslim families in Canada are also plagued with the domestic violence. But when a domestic violence is taken place in a Muslim family the media blames Islam. This biased and misguided propaganda creates hate against Islam and Muslims.
