“International Read a Qur’an Day”
ISCC Calgary will be holding Qur’an rally on September 11
(Calgary) Islamic Supreme Council of Canada will be holding the “International Read a Qur’an Day” rally on September 11, 2010 at 4:00 PM in front of the Calgary City Hall. ISCC founder Imam Syed Soharwardy has asked all ISCC chapters to hold “Read a Qur’an Day” rallies in their cities on September 11, 2010 at 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (EST).
“We, the people of Faith must unite to counter hatemongering against any faith or Holy Scripture.  People of faith must send a strong message to the hate mongers that they are not welcome in a civilized society and their hate will not be tolerated”, said Imam Soharwardy today.
“The holy Qur’an honours Jesus Christ and his mother Marry (peace be upon them). There is an entire chapter on Marry in the Qur’an. Those who are trying to take revenge of terrorism by burning Qur’an are in fact doing exactly what the terrorists want them to do, create more hate.”, said sister Zaheera Tariq of Islamic Association of Canadian Women.
ISCC urges worldwide Muslims to organize “ International Read a Qur’an Day” rallies on September 11, 2010. ISCC requests people of all faiths especially Christians to participate in these rallies in order to show solidarity against hate, racism and violence.
ISCC Calgary requests all Calgarians to attend the rally in Calgary on September 11, 2010 at 4:00 PM in front of the Calgary City Hall.  We are asking participants to bring a copy of Qur’an and read during the rally.
