ISCC and MAT Holding Memorial Service For The Two Canadian Soldiers

(Calgary) The Muslims Against Terrorism (MAT) and the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) will be holding a memorial service for the two Canadian soldiers, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. The memorial service will be held tomorrow (Friday), October 24, 2014 at the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness, 7555 Falconridge Blvd. NE, Calgary at 1:30 PM (In Gymnasium). Both unarmed Canadians were attacked by terrorists in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Ottawa. After the Friday prayer Imam Syed Soharwardy and the members of ISCC and MAT will visit the Central Memorial Park at 2 St. & 12 Ave SW, Calgary to express thanks to the Canadian Armed Forces and observe the moment of silence.

In 2001 Islamic Supreme Council of Canada issued Fatwa against global terrorism. In 2010 Islamic Supreme Council of Canada issued a formal fatwa against the possible terrorist attacks on Canada and the United States.  Imam Syed Soharwardy established Muslims Against Terrorism in 1997 in Calgary to create awareness about the dangers and the un-Islamic nature of terrorism and violence.  Imam Syed Soharwardy is the first and so far only Canadian Muslim who walked across Canada to create awareness about the dangers of domestic and international violence. He led the Multi-Faith Walk Against Violence in 2008.

Imam Soharwardy will also be visiting Montreal and Ottawa on November 1, 2014 to pay respect to the two Canadian soldiers who died in terrorist attacks.
