ISCC and MAT Strongly Condemn Attacks on Canadian Mosques

(Calgary) The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) and Muslims Against Terrorism (MAT) strongly condemn today’s attack at the Kingston Ontario mosque. Several windows at the mosque were smashed and a Star of David was drawn in the snow in front of the mosque.

Within the last few weeks several mosques in Quebec Ontario and Alberta have been vandalized. This rising vandalism against Canadian mosques is a matter of huge concern for all Canadian Muslims.  However, we believe that the overwhelming majority of Canadians do not support these attacks. Canadians of all faiths are united against racism hate and violence towards any segment of the Canadian society.

It is the responsibility of police to find out the attackers and bring them to justice.  We urge our elected politicians at all levels of government to denounce these attacks publicly and in the legislatures.  The silence of our politicians on escalating attacks on mosques is very un-Canadian and concerning.

ISCC and MAT ask all Muslims to be vigilant and report any incident of racism and vandalism to police immediately.  For any assistance and guidance they can also call ISCC at the toll free number 1-866-774-7526.

For any questions please contact Imam Syed Soharwardy at 1-416-994-5467.
