Local Imam asks Gov. to do more in fight against home grown terrorists.

Local Islamic leader Imam Syed Soharwardy is speaking out after a third Calgary man is reported to have died while fighting for extremists overseas.

Farah Mohamed Shirdon a man in his 20′s is said to have joined the terrorist organization ISIS and some months ago was seen in an online video with an AK-47 while denouncing the west.

Soharwardy says homegrown terrorism is much more common than most would think and recruits are working right under the nose of Canadian authorities.

He says, “I think it’s a big failure on the part of the Government of Canada not even to monitor it or at least go after those people who are recruiting them. These terrorists are openly working in this country.”

Soharwardy goes on to say young men can be easily brainwashed and family and community need to intervene before more lives are lost.

Foreign Affairs has yet to confirm the local mans death.
