Programs from May to October, 2008

Due to Prof. Soharwardy’s walk across Canada, all local ISCC chapters will be organizing programs with local speakers. Prof. Syed Soharwardy will resume his regular lectures from November 2008. However, during the last 10 days of Ramadan he will be giving daily lectures in Calgary at the Al Madinah Calgary Islamic Centre.

 

Prof. Soharwardy is leading Multi Faith Walk Against Violence. Nova Scotia (April)

  1. HalifaxStart from docks on Lower Water Street just below the Citadel.
  2. Possible stop at Nova Scotia Parliament Buildings in same area.  
  3. Proceeding out of Halifax, take Cogswell Street to Robie. Continue on Quinpool Road to Connaught Ave (which is Hwy # 102)
  4. Take Hwy 102 north west from Halifax to Truro.
  5. From Truro take Hwy 104 (Trans Canada highway)  thru Amherst to  New Brunswick Border.  

New Brunswick (April and May)

  1. Hey # 104 changes to Hwy # 2 at New Brunswick Border. 
  2. Take Hwy # 2 through Sackville, where a possible short stop, to Moncton.
  3. Plan a stop In Moncton.
  4. Once in Moncton take Hwy # 15 (Veterans Hwy) into Moncton to City Centre.
  5. Leaving Moncton take Mountain Road  to Hwy # 2. 
  6. Once on Hwy # 2 take to Fredericton.
  7. Plan a stop in Fredericton.
  8. From Fredericton continue on Hwy# 2 to Woodstock.
  9. From Woodstock, continue on Hwy # 2 to Edmundston.
  10. Short Stop in Edmunston.    
  11. Leaving Edmundston continue on HWY# 120 to Quebec Border.

Quebec (May)

  1. At Quebec Border Hwy # 120 turns into Hwy # 289.
  2. Take # Hwy 132 to St-André, QC
  3. From St-André, QC  continue on Hwy #132 to Quebec City.
  4. Plan for Quebec City – Visit to Quebec Parliament.
  5. Continue on HWY#138 along the south shore,  to Montreal.
  6. Plan for Montreal  - visit to the city hall.  
  7. Leaving Montreal, take Hwy# 40 (collectors) and #342 towards Hudson, Quebec.

Ontario (June and July)

  1. Continue on Hwy # 342 right into Ottawa.
  2. Plan for Ottawa  -  Stop at Parliament Buildings.
  3. Leaving Ottawa, take Hwy # 7, #15 and #2.
  4. At Kingston, there will be a stop at the city hall.
  5. Continuing from Kingston along # 2 through towns, Napanee, Bellville, Trenton, Cobourg, Port Hope, Newcastle, Bowmanville,  Oshawa to  Pickering and then finally into Toronto.
  6. Possible Stops  in Bellville, Cobourg, Oshawa. 
  7. In Toronto, proceed along Kingston road to the Danforth Ave. On Danforth Ave, continue to Yonge Street. Turn south on Yonge Street to Queen Street, Right on Queen to Toronto City Hall.
  8. Outbound from Toronto, Bathurst Street, North.
  9. Take route #11.
  10. Once in Barrie,  visit the city hall.
  11. Leaving Barrie,  proceed north on Hwy # 169, #69 to Parry Sound.
  12. Plan a stop in Parry Sound (Bobby Orr’s home town)
  13. Leaving Parry Sound take Hwy # 69 north to Sudbury.
  14. Plan a stop in Sudbury.
  15. Leaving Sudbury Take Hwy # 17 (Trans-Canada Highway) West.
  16. Take # 17 west to Sault-Saint Marie.  
  17. Plan a stop in Sault-Saint Marie.
  18. Proceed west on #17 to Thunder Bay.
  19. Plan a stop at the Terry Fox memorial just east of Thunder Bay. 
  20. Plan a stop in Thunder Bay.
  21. Heading West from Thunder Bay on #17 to Kenora, passing through Dryden.
  22. Planned Stop at Kenora.
  23. At Kenora ,  continue on Hwy#17  to Manitoba Border.  

Manitoba (August)

  1. Hey # 17 turns into Hwy # 1 at Manitoba Border.
  2. Take # 1 into Winnipeg.
  3. Plan a stop for Winnipeg – route TBD.
  4. Continue west on #1 passing through Brandon, to the Saskatchewan border.
  5. Stop in Brandon. 

Saskatchewan (August)

  1. Continue on # 1 to Regina.
  2. Plan a stop in Regina…. Route TBD.
  3. Leaving Regina head west on # 1 to Moose Jaw.
  4. Plan a stop in Moose Jaw
  5. Leaving Moose Jaw head west on # 1 to Alberta Border.

Alberta  (September)

  1. Crossing Alberta border continue on # 1 to Medicine Hat.
  2. Plan a stop in Medicine Hat.
  3. Leaving Medicine Hat continue west on # 1 to Calgary.
  4. Plan a stop in Calgary – route TBD. 
  5. Leaving Calgary continue on #1 to Banff.
  6. Plan a stop in Banff.
  7. Leaving Banff continue on # 1  to Lake Louise.
  8. Optional Stop in Lake Louise.
  9. Continue on # 1 to BC Border.

British Columbia  (October)

  1. At BC Border continue on # 1 
  2. Plan a stop at Golden
  3. Continue on # 1 to Revelstoke.
  4. Plan a stop at Revelstoke
  5. Continue on # 1  to Kamloops.
  6. Plan a stop in Kamloops.  
  7. At Kamloops, turn onto Hwy#5 south west.
  8. Continue on # 5 through Merritt and onto Hope.
  9.  Plan a stop at Hope.
  10. Continue out of Hope on Hwy # 1 through Chilliwack to Abbotsford.
  11. Plan a stop at Abbotsford.
  12. Leave Abbotsford  on # 1  to Vancouver.
  13. Plan a stop in Vancouver – Route TBD.
  14. Leaving Vancouver, go south on Hwy # 99 to Hwy # 17.
  15. Take Hwy # 17 to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal.
  16. Take Ferry to Victoria Swartz Bay Terminal.
  17. Leaving Ferry, take Hwy # 17 south into Victoria.
  18. Once in Victoria take Blanchard Street south.
  19. Blanchard will merge into Douglas Street.
  20. Proceed south on Douglas Street.
  21. Optional final Stop in Parliament Buildings across from the Empress Hotel.
  22. End of Trip at Mike Zero Marker in Beacon Hill Park.
  23. Take the next year off to rest….. After a  job well done.
