QuestionsCategory: Beliefs in IslamEthnic background

Asalaam aleykum Imam,
As a revert who is from an Anglo European background, i often find it interesting that non Muslims presume Muslims to be of Asian, African or otherwise brown in appearance. Interestingly enough, i find this to be the case too with many born Muslims. The sense of this reaction can sometimes convey a feeling that a person who is Scottish for example could not be as properly Muslim as a Saudi Arabian or Pakistani.
This might also occur with a Muslim named Jack Smith as contrasted with a Muslim named Omar Kareem.
What does Islam (and Islamic authorities) say about this issue? I have always understood that Islam is a faith that anyone from an Inuit to a Greek or Japanese can practice and that race or cultural background do not enter the equation.
Many thanks for responding to this, inshallah.
