QuestionsCategory: PrayersMy periods last longer than usual.

I am a lady in my early 20s. I have a rare disorder known as Polyostic Fibrous Displasia. Due to this I started my period around the age of 6. Since then my periods have been normal – lasting around 7 days every month. However, over the last couple of years I’ve developed issues with my period due to my disorder. The problem is that about every 3-5 months, my monthly period will last for an abnormally long period of time – this ranges from 2-4 weeks of constant bleeding. During this time I obviously don’t pray Salaah. But, I’ve been hearing different stories about whether I can pray during this long period of menses. Someone told me that if my period bleeds for longer than 10 days then I should do ghusl and start praying, even if it hasn’t finished. I am unsure whether this is correct. Please let me know what I should do.
Also, I have been prescribed medication by my doctor. I have to take these tablets each time my periods last for an abnormally long time. Generally by the second day of taking these tablets my period stops. However, this also makes my next monthly period come later than usual. In addition to this, my next period is likely to be painful with heavy bleeding every day during the menses.
