Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuh and Ramadan Mubarak,
My name is Heba Khalil and I am a Muslim student researcher at the University of Ottawa. I am currently studying the practice of Islamic healing rituals in Canada for my PhD of Education, Concentration: Societies, Cultures, and Languages degree.
To do this, I intend to conduct an online questionnaire and a follow-up virtual interview with anyone who has practices ruqyah shariah for the purposes of healing themselves or others. For this reason, I thought I would reach out, establish a connection with all Muslim organizations across Canada, and see if you would be interested in participating in such a study once I am ready to launch the data collection phase in the fall of 2022?
Possible benefits of participation would include:

  • Publicizing and advertising your professional services to all the readers once the results of the study are published (if you choose to disclose your identity, if not, any personal identifiers would be removed from the published material and only answers to the questions you choose to answer would be used for the analysis and results of the study).
  • An opportunity to share your theoretical and experiential knowledge regarding Islamic healing rituals with the scientific and academic community and thus gain the ajir from Allah for any resulting benefit, inshAllah.
  • Firsthand access to the results of the PhD study as soon as they are ready for publication.
  • A monetary compensation in appreciation of the time that you have dedicated to participating in the study valued at about $50 per interviewee.

Please let me know if this is something members of your personal or professional organization would be interested in engaging in? If so, you can fill in the following form with your information, and I will surely get in touch with you as soon as the data collection phase is launched, inshaAllah.
Additionally, if you would like to recommend anyone for this study, that would be very helpful for me as well. Participants for this study do not have to be professionals in the field of ruqyah shariah, rather they can be anyone who has used ruqyah shariyah for the purposes of healing themselves or others in Canada.
Last but not least, if you would like to ask any questions or arrange a virtual meeting or phone call with me regarding the study, I would be more than happy to discuss the details of the study with you further.
I look forward to hearing back from you inshAllah!
Best regards,
Heba Khalil
