Assalamualaikum, I had met a man who is shia (not raafidi) while I am sunni and he was someone very good. Although we did not see a problem in marrying someone from each other sects, our parents strongly oppose it. I did not know my parents were too serious about because they never showed any resentment against them until when I asked about it. My parents both strongly opposed it. I decided to talk to him about it and he said that he would fight for the person if he saw a future with that person. However, I don’t think I could do that because my parents would disown me. So we ended what we had (we did not date or do anything haram we just talked). I also prayed to Allah after finding out the seriousness of the matter and something in my heart told me to talk to him. Do you think this is right? I trust Allah but I feel very heart broken. I just keep thinking that if it is meant to be it will happen but if not it won’t.
