Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) Birthday Celebrations

Eid Milad un Nabi Should Be Recognized

Calgary) The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and its affiliate mosques and organizations request Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and all the premiers of the Canadian provinces and the territories to officially recognize the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) called Eid Milad un Nabi.  God willing, this year Eid Milad un Nabi will be on December 12, 2016. This recognition is important for the Canadian Muslims. It is an important day of joy and celebration across the Muslim world.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Makkah on 12th Rabi Al Awwal (3rd month of the Islamic calendar), 571 A.D.  Eid Milad un Nabi is a national holiday in almost all Muslim countries. Overwhelming majority of Muslims celebrate this important day with joy and the spirit of thanksgiving. Eid Milad un Nabi is also a national holiday in several non-Muslim countries including India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Fiji, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago.

Like every year Canadian Muslims will be celebrating Eid Milad un Nabi (peace be upon him). Islamic Supreme Council of Canada – a national Canadian Islamic organization with chapters in major cities across the country will be holding several international conferences over the period of next three months in various cities from Montreal to Vancouver.  Several other Islamic organizations will also be holding their programs across the country in order to create awareness about the life and the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The message of peace, love, mercy, sacrifice, human dignity, dialogue, diversity and coexistence is the most important message in today’s troubling times. Eid Milad un Nabi reminds us this message of Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Several international Muslim scholars will be addressing the Canadian international conferences across the country.  World renowned Naat Khawn (religious singers) and Qurra (holy Qur’an reciters) will also be participating in these Canadian conferences.

ISCC also requests the media to run stories on the life and the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and cover the Eid Milad un Nabi (peace be upon him) programs in various cities of Canada.  ISCC can provide literature and the information on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
