Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) Birthday Celebrations

Eid Milad un Nabi To Be Recognized By The Canadian Govt.

(Calgary) The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and its affiliate mosques and organization request Prime Minister Stephen Harper and all the premiers of the Canadian provinces and the territories to officially recognize the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) called Eid Milad un Nabi.  This year Eid Milad un Nabi falls on January 14, 2014. This recognition is important for the Canadian Muslims. It is an important day of joy and celebration across the Muslim world.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Makkah on 12th Rabi Al Awwal (3rd month of the Islamic calendar) in 571 A.D.  Eid Milad un Nabi is a national holiday in all Muslim countries except Saudi Arabia.  Just like Jehovah Witness among Christians who do not celebrate Christmas, the followers of Wahabi sect in Islam do not celebrate Eid Milad un Nabi (Peace be upon him).  However, the overwhelming majority of Muslims does celebrate this important day. Eid Milad un Nabi is also a national holiday in several non-Muslim countries including India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Fiji, Trinidad & Tobago, etc..

By the grace of Allah Canada is the only country in the world where Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) birthday celebrations will continue for four months; the longest celebrations in the world.  Starting January 2nd until May 4, 2014 across Canada various chapters of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) and its affiliate mosques and organizations will be holding Eid Milad un Nabi (peace be upon him) Conferences to mark the birthday celebrations of Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

We are thankful to Allah for blessing Canada with this honour. On the weekends large conferences will be held in most of the major cities of Canada and during the weekdays the small gatherings will be held in the houses of Muslim families. For more than 120 days the celebrations of Eid Milad un Nabi continues in Canada.

Several International Muslim scholars will be addressing the Canadian international conferences across the country.  World renowned Naat Khawn (religious singers) and Qurra (holy Qur’an reciters) will also be participating in these Canadian conferences.

ISCC also requests the media to run stories on the life and the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and cover the Eid Milad un Nabi (peace be upon him) programs in various cities of Canada.  ISCC can provide literature and the information on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
