ISCC Offers Condolences on the Passing of Muhammad Ali
(Calgary) The Executive Council of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada held an emergency meeting last night on the passing of a great ambassador of Islam, world champion and the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali (May Allah’s mercy upon him). We are very sad by this news. ISCC offers heartfelt condolences to Muhammad Ali’s family, friends and fans around the world. All his life Muhammad Ali fought for the dignity and the respect for human life. He was not only a boxing champion but he was a true fighter for human rights and social justice.
“I had a very brief interaction with Muhammad Ali when he attended a conference in Riyadh Saudi Arabia in early 1990s. He was a huge inspiration for all Muslim especially youth and a true defender of Islam”, said Imam Syed Soharwardy. Not many Muslims know how many people embraced Islam because of Muhammad Ali. May Allah grant him the highest place in the Heaven and give patience to his family. We all belong to Allah and we all will return to Him.
ISCC will be holding a memorial service (FATEHA) tomorrow Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the Green Dome Mosque, 4616 – 80th Avenue, NE (Intersection of Metis Trail & 80th Ave., NE) Calgary. Everyone invited.
